Volunteering Information

Large group of firefighters training with an Airlift Northwest Helicopter with fire trucks in the ba

Becoming a volunteer firefighter

According  to the National Fire Prevention Association, approximately 69% of  firefighters in the United States are volunteer. This speaks great  volumes about our nation, and the way neighbors help each other. Here in our community, that number is far closer to 100%, as the District only has 3 full time employees.

Minimum Requirements for Volunteers:

  • 18 years old
  • Pass a medical exam, including a drug test
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Have a valid WA State driver's license
  • Have a good driving record
  • Be of good moral character
  • High School diploma, or equivalent

Student Program

The District operates a student program, where students as young as 16 years old, (and in their senior year of high school), may volunteer as firefighters!

These young firefighters may respond to emergencies, attend training, and gain valuable experience in the fire service. We've been a part of many Senior Projects, and are proud of all the young people that want to volunteer to help their community.

For more information, give us a call at (360) 599-2823, or email us at info@wcfd14.org.

Get trained, and respond in your community!

Volunteer firefighting is a serious commitment!

New members must go to an EMT school, (or have their Washington State EMT) and are strongly encouraged to go to the county fire academy. Both are 3-4 month long schools. Classes are designed for volunteers with full time jobs, and are held on evenings and weekends.

Volunteering can be very rewarding. If you  are interested in volunteering, please contact us at (360) 599-2823, or  send us an email at info@wcfd14.org
